On the Road . . . Massachusetts

I like New England a lot! The distances between places, across states, is so small compared to the West. One day we drove 5 miles, from Williamstown to North Adams, and called it good. And the towns seem to have remained unchanged; towns without malls, with hardly a grocery store or a gas station, but it doesn’t seem to matter. Simple houses. And oh those stone walls, kept up and sturdy, or crumbling into the forest. Or, just before spring hits, the soft red furze of trees on hillsides, nothing like the October splendor we usually hear about.

Perhaps the Shaker influence, the Amish culture, the Quaker religion are some of the reasons for New England stability and simple clean lines.

Greg’s favorite day might have been a day with Emily. She was a redhead!
