Compass Rose

Greg and I invented the “Compass Rose Day” several years back. It works very well around our town, allowing us the opportunity to discover new things in old places – places we’ve been, explored, driven by, but never truly gotten to know well. So on a Compass Rose we dig deeper and much more slowly. In response to my need to slow down, we set out to spend a day in NYC at our pace. It was worth it.

  1. Go to the Met? My uncle was a curator there in the 1950’s. I have a beautiful painting from him from the 1800’s. You’ll have to come see it when you are back. Unless NYC steals you away.

  2. Your “Compass Rose” day sounds lovely. I do like the living slow idea. Your day reminds me of a similar plan for exploring the city. Two friends would meet for a walk , and the only plan was to cross at the green light at each intersection. What do you think? carol

  3. It does sound as if you are having a special time. Hard to imagine slowing down in NYC but sounds as if you are managing. I do enjoy following you sketch book.
